The Yak 18th May 2012
Selamat Pagi. Today’s photo update is coming to you from Seminyak, Bali. A lot of you probably already know this, but if you come to Bali, you will need to spend part of your trip here in Seminyak. The ‘Yak is where all the amazing bars, shopping, beachfront hotels and incredible restaurants are. It’s known as the ‘classy’ end of town, unlike it’s grimy brother – Kuta, where you can live on 10 bucks a day and go mad on the 1 litre jars of Arak, get your hair braided and wake up with a new Tattoo.
All these places are along a very long black sand beach. Kuta, Seminyak and Legian all have waves, which are quite uncrowded and good on the incoming tide. Ok, for sure, it’s no Ulu’s or Keramis, but driving in Bali can take a bit of time (traffic is mental) and sometimes you just need to hang around the hotel deck chairs, surf locally and soak it all up rather that spending hours crossing the island.
Now, I know that you all think I basically do nothing and lie around all day, here is the sequel video to our recent New Zealand trip, to prove I do actually do some work. Watch it now. Air New Zealand is generously giving away two return tickets to Auckland to one of our lucky Aquabumps readers. Just answer this simple question: What is the number plate of the Land Rover in this video? Enter Now Winners drawn next week.

Ok, if you want to surf bigger, better waves, you don't have to go all the way to the Bukit

Hey Uge,
Where do you recommend for beginner surf lessons over there? Any particular breaks or surf schools?
Cheers?

Your brilliant image 31063 “Early morning set, Seminyak” captures the essence of surf. I am (as I always am when I leave the water) at peace
) I am in awe of your ability to touch our soul’s with your skill.

Hi Uge,
I would dearly like to enter your draw for the NZ airline tickets, but the link in your email above isn’t working. Can you re-post it, preferably before you draw the prize!
Cheers, Kate

Hi Uge,
Have you thought of creating a collection of images for the background screen image on an iPad?
The Early morning set, Seminyak – would make a great wallpaper image.
Cheers,
Tim

Aquabumps is in my opinion the absolute case study for great new media sponsorship opportunities. This NZ series of vids is a perfect example. Hats off to Landrover, Air New Zealand and Canon. They come across as believable partners and what’s more, I find myself wanting to engage with their products. As an old, cynical ad man that is not something easily achieved.
Keep up the good work Uge, you have got that balance just right.
Cheers,
Lee
